L.A. city code officials responded to the neighbors' complaints by citing Brown for unpermitted and excessive signage, with possible fines starting at $376. They ordered him to remove the painting within 30 days, after which the fines could rise.
Chris Brown's attorney, Mark Geragos, said that Brown planned to fight the city over the murals. "They are trying to suspend the First Amendment," he said.
Geragos also accused Brown's neighbors of harassing the singer.
"I'm scared of neighborhood busybodies like this," he said. "They've called animal control. They have sicced parking (enforcement) on him, and now they reached the heights of ridiculousness here. Shame on them."
