City attorney's spokesman Frank Mateljan said the former husband of singer Whitney Houston was sentenced after pleading no contest to being under the influence and driving on a suspended licence when he was arrested in October
he 44-year-old New Edition singer was ordered to report to jail on March 20, placed on four years of informal probation and must complete an 18-month alcohol treatment programme.
His lawyer Tiffany Feder had no immediate comment on the sentence.
Houston, 48, who battled drug addiction, drowned in a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub last February. She was married to Brown for 15 years.
